Apple retains TomTom for Maps as NOKIA continues HERE sale

Tom Tom has announced that apple will continue sourcing the data from the company as one data provider for its Map app on IOS devices and MAC.

Apple notes that TomTom shares jump 7 percent to an almost six year high following the announcement.

Apple has been sourcing data from TomTom for its in-houceMaps application since first ditching Google Maps back in 2012. The company is listed at thetop of Apple's attribution page for contributers to Maps, along side a kong list of other compnies that provides business listing and maps data, including: booking.com, DigitalGlobe, Trip advisor, waze, yelp and many others.
Earlier this week, Apple confirmed an acquisition of GPS company Coherentn Navigation, a move that could help its bolster Maps Accuracy.
